The Group Facilitator for the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is responsible for leading structured group therapy and psychoeducation sessions for individuals participating in behavioral health treatment at Heale Counseling. The role focuses on supporting clients with mental health or co-occurring conditions through group engagement, skill development, and recovery-oriented activities. While licensure is not required, the position demands strong interpersonal skills, professionalism, and a foundational understanding of mental health topics and group dynamics.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & COMPETENCIES:

1. Facilitates therapeutic and psychoeducational groups as scheduled, using evidence-informed curricula and techniques under clinical supervision.

2. Creates a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment that encourages participation, accountability, and peer support.

3. Prepares materials, handouts, and activities in advance of sessions to support curriculum goals.

4. Monitors client participation and emotional well-being during sessions, and communicates concerns to licensed clinical staff.

5. Assists with coordinating guest speakers, wellness activities, or experiential learning components as assigned.

6. Documents group attendance and summarizes client participation or behavioral observations per organizational policy.

7. Maintains appropriate professional boundaries and adheres to HIPAA confidentiality standards at all times.

8. Collaborates with the IOP treatment team during staff meetings to report on progress, engagement, and any challenges.

9. Participates in required trainings related to crisis response, trauma-informed care, cultural competency, and ethical practice.

10. Assists with the setup, cleanup, and organization of group spaces and materials.

11. Supports the development and implementation of new group topics or enhancements to existing programming.

12. Provides encouragement, emotional support, and motivation to clients in alignment with treatment goals.

LEVEL OF EDUCATION/TRAINING/QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High School Diploma or GED required; Professional License preferred

2. Previous experience facilitating group activities, peer support, or therapeutic sessions in a behavioral health or recovery setting preferred.

3. Familiarity with mental health terminology, trauma-informed care principles, and group facilitation techniques.

4. Ability to maintain composure and professionalism when working with clients experiencing emotional distress.

Position Summary: 

The Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) is a paraprofessional who works under the close and ongoing supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or Supervising BCBA. The RBT is primarily responsible for the direct implementation of behavior-analytic treatment plans developed by the BCBA. This role involves working directly with individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other developmental disabilities, implementing skill acquisition and behavior reduction programs, collecting data, and maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment. The RBT plays a crucial role in helping individuals achieve their goals and improve their quality of life.

Responsibilities: 

Direct Client Care:

• Implement individualized behavior plans and skill acquisition programs as directed by the BCBA.

• Provide one-on-one or small group instruction in various settings (e.g., clinic, home, school, community).

• Utilize teaching strategies based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), such as discrete trial training (DTT), natural environment teaching (NET), and other evidence-based techniques.
